Technical Information & Quartzite Care

Our quartzite sinks are individually crafted from genuine natural stone, meaning every piece is entirely unique. Variations in colour, veining, mineral markings, crystalline movement and tonal variation are inherent characteristics of natural quartzite and should not be considered defects. These natural differences form part of the character of the stone and ensure that no two sinks are exactly alike.

Cleaning and Routine Care

Clean the sink regularly using warm water, a soft cloth and a mild, pH-neutral cleaner suitable for natural stone. After cleaning, rinse the surface thoroughly and dry it with a soft microfibre cloth to help prevent water marks, soap residue and limescale build-up.

Spills from cosmetics, soaps, oils and strongly coloured products should be wiped away promptly. Although quartzite is a dense and durable natural stone, prolonged exposure to liquids may cause staining depending on the individual stone and finish.

Do not use:

  • Acidic cleaners, including vinegar, lemon or citrus-based products
  • Bleach, ammonia or strong chemical cleaners
  • Abrasive powders, scouring pads or rough sponges
  • General bathroom cleaners that are not suitable for natural stone
  • Limescale removers unless specifically approved for quartzite and natural stone

Harsh or abrasive products may dull the polished finish or damage the surface.

Sealing and Protection

Natural quartzite may require periodic sealing to help protect the surface against moisture and staining. The frequency will depend on the particular stone, its finish, level of use and sealing product applied.

We recommend consulting a professional stone specialist or installer before applying any sealer.

Always test cleaning and sealing products on a small, discreet area before treating the entire sink.

Everyday Use

Avoid leaving standing water, wet toiletries, metal containers or strongly pigmented products on the quartzite surface for extended periods. Soap dispensers, bottles and decorative accessories should be lifted and cleaned underneath regularly to prevent trapped moisture and staining.

Do not place extremely hot items directly onto the stone. Avoid dropping heavy or sharp objects into the basin. Although quartzite is highly durable, significant impact may chip or damage edges and vulnerable areas.

Installation

Due to the substantial weight and natural composition of solid stone, quartzite sinks must be installed on a suitably reinforced surface or supporting structure.

Installation should be completed by an experienced professional using fixings, supports, sealants and installation products suitable for natural stone.

Plumbing fittings should not be overtightened, as excessive pressure may damage the stone. Only non-staining, natural-stone-compatible silicone and installation products should be used.

  • Professional installation is required.
  • The supporting floor or structure should be assessed before installation.
  • Suitable lifting equipment may be required during delivery and positioning.

Natural Stone Characteristics

Veining, crystalline markings, mineral movement, fissures and colour variation are natural characteristics formed within quartzite over millions of years. Certain natural features may be filled, reinforced or professionally treated during production to improve the strength and finish of the stone.

These characteristics do not affect the basin’s intended function and contribute to the individuality of every piece.

With appropriate installation, regular cleaning and careful maintenance, a natural quartzite sink will retain its distinctive appearance and provide a timeless focal point for many years.

Delivery

  • Every Sink is securely packed in a reinforced timber crate.
  • Delivery is arranged with a specialist courier experienced in handling natural stone products.
  • Customers will be contacted prior to delivery to arrange a convenient date.
  • Please inspect the packaging and product upon delivery before signing.

Returns

  • Returns are accepted in accordance with our Returns Policy.
  • As these products are handcrafted from natural stone, variations in colour and veining are not considered manufacturing defects.
  • Any damage must be reported within 48 hours of delivery with supporting photographs.
  • Products must remain unused and in their original packaging if a return is requested.

Heavy Goods Returns

This product is a substantial natural stone item and cannot normally be returned using standard postal or parcel services. Eligible non-bespoke products may be returned in accordance with our Returns & Cancellations Policy. Where a return is made because you have changed your mind, you will be responsible for the direct cost of specialist return transportation where permitted by applicable law. Specialist freight, protective crating, pallets, lifting equipment or additional handling may be required. Return costs vary according to the product, delivery location and access requirements. Please contact returns@exechomesco.uk before purchasing if you require an estimate of the specialist return cost applicable to your delivery address. Bespoke, made-to-measure and personalised products cannot be returned for change of mind once confirmed. This does not affect your statutory rights for faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied goods.
